NAAPE Calls for Reinstatement of ValueJet Crew Licences After K1’s Airport Disruption

The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has called on the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to hold Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as Kwam1, responsible for disrupting a ValueJet flight at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025.

In a statement issued Saturday in Lagos, NAAPE National President Galadima Abednego described Kwam1’s actions as “crude, unruly behaviour” and an “arrogant display” that provoked the flight crew.

The incident, labeled a security breach on the tarmac before a Lagos-bound flight, led to the NCAA suspending the pilot and first officer.

Abednego argued that while the captain could have exercised better judgment, Kwam1 bears primary responsibility.

He urged a transparent investigation to establish culpability and prevent future disruptions, stating, “NAAPE calls on the authorities to hold KWAM 1 accountable and ensure he faces the full consequences of the law.”

NAAPE also requested the NCAA to reconsider the crew’s suspension, highlighting their unblemished records, and urged ValueJet to support the affected staff.

The association praised the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the NCAA Director-General for their prompt response while encouraging passengers to prioritize safety.

The NCAA has banned Kwam1 from domestic and international travel through Nigerian airports.
