The Lagos State Police Command has announced that its Explosives Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit will carry out an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) simulation exercise on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island.
The drill aims to bolster the police’s readiness and response capabilities for bomb-related emergencies.
In a statement issued Wednesday, police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin explained that the exercise will involve controlled detonations conducted by specialized operatives trained in managing explosives and related threats.
He reassured residents, workers, and visitors in the Eko Atlantic area not to be alarmed by blast sounds, emphasizing that the operation will produce no shrapnel or pose any danger.
“Adequate safety measures are in place to ensure the exercise is conducted without risk to lives or property,” Hundeyin stated.
Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh appealed for public cooperation during the drill, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to the safety and security of Lagosians.
Residents are urged to remain calm and carry on with their activities as the police execute this critical training. Further updates will be provided as needed.
