Lagos State Police have apprehended four individuals linked to a syndicate that allegedly swindled over 100 Nigerians out of more than ₦500 million through fraudulent visa schemes.
The arrests were announced by Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh during a press briefing on Monday, August 11.
The suspects, aged 23, 25, 27, and 36, were detained on July 16 by officers from the Ago-Okota Division.
The case was subsequently handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
Detectives found that the suspects, employed by an educational consultancy, posed as agents offering Canadian and Australian work visas.
“Investigations show the suspects defrauded over 100 victims of more than ₦500 million by falsely promising to secure work visas,” Jimoh stated.
The suspects are currently in custody and will face court proceedings upon completion of the investigation. Police are actively pursuing other members of the syndicate who remain at large.
