The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued Certificates of Return to seven candidates who won the bye-elections conducted on August 16, 2025.
INEC announced via its official X account that the National Commissioners for the respective geopolitical zones presented the certificates, adhering to Section 71(1) of the Electoral Act, which requires issuance within 14 days of an election.
The statement noted: "Following the August 16, 2025 bye-elections, and in compliance with Section 71(1) of the Electoral Act, Certificates of Return were issued today to seven successful candidates by the National Commissioners overseeing their geopolitical zones."
The winners include representatives from two Senatorial Districts: Anambra South and Edo Central, and five Federal Constituencies in Edo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ogun, and Oyo.
