"I Have Never Snatched or Rigged Any Election" – Peter Obi Declares

In a bold speech delivered at a town hall meeting in Lagos, Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, firmly denied any involvement in electoral malpractice.

Addressing a crowd of supporters, journalists, and political analysts, Obi responded to longstanding allegations about his political career, stating unequivocally, “I have never snatched or rigged any election.”

The statement comes amid heated discussions about electoral integrity in Nigeria, as the nation prepares for upcoming local and national elections.

Obi, who ran as the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has been a vocal advocate for transparent and credible electoral processes.

His remarks were seen as a direct rebuttal to critics who have questioned his political record.

Speaking at the event, Obi emphasized his commitment to democratic principles, citing his tenure as governor and his campaigns as evidence of his clean record. “My political journey has been built on trust, accountability, and respect for the will of the people,” he said.

“I challenge anyone to provide evidence that I have ever manipulated or undermined an election. My focus has always been on serving the people, not stealing their mandate.”

The town hall, organized to discuss governance and electoral reforms, also saw Obi outline his vision for a “new Nigeria,” where elections reflect the true will of the people.

He called for stronger institutions, including an independent electoral commission and the adoption of technology to minimize human interference in voting processes.
