The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved ₦145 billion for electrification projects across eight federal universities and one teaching hospital, alongside ₦68.7 billion for solar power initiatives targeting off-grid rural communities and agricultural clusters.

Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, announced after Thursday’s FEC meeting that these projects aim to deliver sustainable energy, reduce dependency on the national grid, and drive growth, innovation, and inclusivity.

The benefiting institutions include the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), University of Ibadan (UI), University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, Federal University Wukari (Taraba State), and one additional unnamed federal university.
