EFCC Disowns Dismissed Staff, Orders Arrest After Viral Matchmaking Video

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified that Olakunle Alex Folarin, recently seen on entertainer Lege Miami’s TikTok live matchmaking platform, is no longer an employee of the agency.

Folarin’s appearance, where he was identified as an EFCC “officer,” triggered widespread reactions online, prompting the agency to respond.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Monday, August 25, 2025, the EFCC confirmed that Folarin was dismissed for certificate forgery and is no longer affiliated with the Commission.

The agency further ordered his arrest for illegally retaining official property, including an EFCC identity card, which he failed to surrender post-dismissal. The viral video sparked public queries, leading to the EFCC’s swift action to address the misrepresentation.

The statement reads, ”The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, condemned in the strongest terms, the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami social media platforms.”

“Folarin was recently dismissed from the Commission for certificate forgery. He was a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.

“The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has ordered his arrest for being in possession of some Commission’s properties, including an Identity Card, which he should have handed over upon being dismissed from the EFCC.

“The public is advised against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC.”
