Edo PDP Mourns Pioneer Chairman with Three-Day Commemoration

The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced a three-day mourning period to honor the memory of its late pioneer chairman, Chief Solomon Aguele, who passed away on August 18, 2025.

The mourning period, effective from Thursday, August 21, 2025, will see a suspension of all political activities and engagements across the state as the party pays tribute to a foundational figure in its history.

In a statement issued by Chris Osa Nehikhare, Publicity Secretary of the State Caretaker Committee, the PDP expressed profound sadness over Aguele’s passing, describing him as a dedicated leader whose contributions laid a strong foundation for the party’s growth in Edo State.

“Chief Aguele will be remembered for his humility, loyalty, and enduring contributions to the PDP and the development of Edo State,” the statement read.

To facilitate public participation in the mourning process, the party has opened a condolence register at its secretariat located at 20 Aiguobasimwin Crescent, Benin City.

Members, leaders, and the general public are invited to pay their respects and share their tributes to the late chairman.

The PDP emphasized that this gesture reflects the unity of the Edo PDP family in honoring Aguele’s legacy, noting that his leadership was pivotal during the party’s formative years.

Chief Solomon Aguele, the first state chairman of the PDP in Edo, was celebrated for his steadfastness and wisdom, qualities that helped shape the party’s early successes.

His passing has elicited heartfelt condolences from party members and political associates, who continue to reflect on his significant role in advancing democratic ideals in the state.

As Edo State pauses to commemorate Aguele’s life and legacy, the PDP reiterated its commitment to upholding the values he championed, ensuring that his contributions to the party and the state’s political landscape endure for generations to come.
