Director of Training and Programmes at the Progressive Institute, and former Commissioner of Education in Kano State, Sanusi Sa’id Kiru, has urged Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf to refrain from making public comments on the alleged N6.5 billion diversion involving the Protocol Directorate of Government House.
In a statement issued in Kano, Kiru emphasized that ongoing
litigation should be allowed to run its full course without interference.
He noted that instead of dismissing the allegations as
false, the governor should encourage patience and confidence in the judiciary
as a way of demonstrating his administration’s commitment to transparency and
the fight against corruption.
“By allowing the courts to determine the matter, the
Governor would uphold the rule of law and show respect for the institutions
that govern our society,” he said.
Kiru criticized the government’s swift dismissal of the
allegations as “a desperate attempt to save face,” warning that such reactions
only fuel more suspicion.
“How can you dismiss it by saying it is a lie, despite the
available evidence?” he queried, urging the state government to allow the legal
process to speak for itself.
He further stressed that, as a past beneficiary of judicial
rulings in political disputes, Governor Yusuf should avoid dismissing a case
already before a competent court.
