The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring peace and security in Taraba State following the tragic killing of two soldiers during a peacekeeping mission in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported on August 26, 2025, that troops were attacked by unidentified armed assailants on August 20, resulting in the deaths of two personnel, one identified as Malachi.
A source from Army Headquarters expressed regret over the loss but emphasized the military’s unwavering resolve to restore calm and safeguard communities in Karim-Lamido and across Taraba.
The source revealed that a Board of Inquiry has been established to probe the incident, with troops maintaining a strong presence to prevent further violence.
The Army urged community leaders and residents to collaborate in its peace-building efforts, noting that sustainable security depends on mutual trust and cooperation.
“During a routine peacekeeping operation in Karim-Lamido on August 20, troops of 6 Brigade were attacked by unidentified assailants, resulting in the unfortunate loss of two soldiers,” the source stated.
