Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state, raising it from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000.
The announcement was made during a recent address to corps members, where the governor emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting youth development and national service.
Fintiri praised the corps members for their dedication, enthusiasm, and significant contributions to the state and nation’s progress.
He highlighted their role as catalysts for positive change, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, and community development, where many corps members are deployed. “Your eagerness to serve and contribute to Nigeria’s growth is commendable,” Fintiri stated, highlighting the importance of young people in driving the country’s development agenda.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for the NYSC program, noting that the allowance increment is part of broader efforts to enhance the welfare of corps members and motivate them to perform optimally during their service year.
He encouraged them to uphold the NYSC’s core values of unity, discipline, and hard work, urging them to build bridges across Nigeria’s diverse cultures and leave lasting impacts in their host communities.
While no specific start date for the new allowance was provided in available reports, the increment has been widely welcomed as a positive step toward improving the living conditions of corps members in Adamawa State.
