UNIMAID Teaching Hospital Names New Medical ICT Institute After Tinubu

The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Borno State has named its newly constructed Medical ICT Institute after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The unveiling took place on Tuesday during the 110th general meeting of Chief Medical Directors in Maiduguri, attended by political figures and key health sector stakeholders nationwide.Speaking before the unveiling, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Ahmed Ahidjo, praised the Federal Government’s contributions to the facility.

He described the institute as the first of its kind in Nigeria, designed to enhance healthcare capacity and develop skills among practitioners.

He said, “The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Muhammad Pate, has demonstrated that so much can be achieved.

“We appreciate your focus and dedication. As at now, I can say we are getting whatever we asked from the Federal Government.

“Today, we are commissioning the first medical ICT centre in Nigeria, named after President Tinubu as a mark of appreciation.”

He, however, added that about eight projects which span across health facilities, roads, and infrastructures that were inaugurated are named after stakeholders who have contributed significantly to the growth of the hospital.

Pate, on his part, noted that the health sector is one of the key cardinal point of the Tinubu-led administration.

He said, “In the two years of President Tinubu in office, he chose health as a cardinal point in his renewed hope of agenda, and today, the result is already manifesting. The President is using the sector to Unify the country.

“Today, in each of the federal health centres, you will find one or two federal projects completed in going on.”

He commended the league of the CMDs for their leadership across various hospitals in the country, describing it as pivotal for healthcare service delivery

“Transformation is taking up and I must say, you the Chief Medical Directors are the ones piloting the change.

“It is a great pleasure to join you today. It is fitting that the teaching hospital decided to match it with several important projects commissioning including the ICT centre named after President Tinubu.

“So I want to thank the hospital state government and Borno people for the warm reception” he said

The event was attended by the Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum, his deputy, Usman Kadafur, traditional rulers, members of the state and national assemblies and key government leaders both local and national levels.
