President Bola Tinubu is currently chairing the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, to address critical national issues.
The meeting, attended by key government officials, began with significant ceremonial and solemn moments, reflecting both continuity and remembrance in Nigeria’s governance.
Prior to the commencement of the FEC session, President Tinubu administered the oath of office to Nnana Uzor Kalu, who was appointed as the commissioner representing the Southeast in the National Assembly Service Commission.
Following the oath-taking, the council observed a minute’s silence in honor of Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, a former cabinet member who passed away on May 11, 2025.
Olubolade served as Minister of Special Duties, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, and Minister of Police Affairs under President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
He also held the position of military administrator of Bayelsa State during the regime of the late General Sani Abacha.
The tribute highlighted Olubolade’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s public service.
In attendance at the FEC meeting are Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff to the President Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Head of Civil Service of the Federation Dr. Didi Walson-Jack, and several ministers.
The council is expected to deliberate on pressing matters, including economic policies, security updates, and infrastructure development, as the Tinubu administration continues to navigate Nigeria’s complex challenges.
