Chelsea Humble PSG 3–0 to Win Club World Cup Title in Style

Chelsea crowned a spectacular season with global glory after dismantling Paris Saint-Germain 3–0 in the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The Premier League side stamped their authority early, with Cole Palmer firing a brace in the first half, before João Pedro rounded off a dominant performance just before halftime.

Palmer opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after a clever pass from Malo Gusto, then doubled Chelsea’s lead with a brilliant solo run and finish in the 30th minute. His dazzling display didn’t stop there — just before the break, he turned provider, slipping a perfectly weighted ball through to Pedro, who coolly chipped it over Donnarumma to make it 3–0.

Chelsea's fluid pressing game under manager Enzo Maresca completely overwhelmed a disjointed PSG, who struggled to create clear chances. Despite efforts from Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha, goalkeeper Robert Sánchez stood firm to protect the clean sheet.

Frustration boiled over late in the second half when PSG’s João Neves was shown a straight red card for grabbing Marc Cucurella’s hair — a moment that summed up the Parisians’ evening.

With the win, Chelsea secured their second Club World Cup title, having first lifted the trophy in 2021. The result caps a memorable 2024–25 campaign that saw them finish top four in the Premier League and win the UEFA Conference League.

This final also made history as the first ever between two European teams in the expanded 32-team format of the tournament, played in front of over 81,000 fans at MetLife Stadium.

Palmer, who has emerged as one of the brightest young stars in world football, was named Man of the Match for his two goals and one assist. “It’s an unbelievable feeling. Nights like this are why you play the game,” he said after the match.

As Chelsea celebrate, PSG are left with questions over their cohesion and tactical direction under manager Luis Enrique, who admitted post-match: “Chelsea were simply better. They punished our mistakes, and we didn’t respond.”

With the season now over, Chelsea’s eyes will turn to building on this momentum, while PSG will need to regroup and address their growing concerns on and off the pitch.
