A devastating building collapse occurred overnight along Adeniji Adele Road at Isale- Eko on Lagos Island, resulting in several people being hospitalised.
The incident, which happened in the early hours of Thursday, prompted a swift emergency response from various agencies, including the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Nigerian Police.
LASTMA personnel, along with other emergency responders and police officers, were quickly deployed to the scene to rescue victims trapped under the rubble.
Those rescued were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention, with officials working to ensure they receive the necessary care.
To ease movement around the affected area, LASTMA diverted traffic, redirecting vehicles through alternative routes to minimize disruptions.
The exact cause of the building collapse has not been officially confirmed, but concerns about structural failures and aging buildings in the area have been raised. The building site remains cordoned off, with emergency responders continuing their operations to ensure the situation is fully under control.
Officials are working to confirm the number of casualties and ensure that all necessary measures are taken to support those affected.
The response efforts are focused on providing medical attention to the victims and supporting those impacted by the collapse.
