Fredrick Nwabufo, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Engagement, has responded to criticism from Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, regarding President Tinubu's visit to Saint Lucia.
Recall, Obi had accused Tinubu of going on a vacation while the country faces various crises. Peter Obi questioned the timing of the President's visit, citing the need for Tinubu to address domestic issues, such as the recent flood disaster in Niger State.
Nwabufo reacting to the statement on Sunday, described Obi as a "tragedy connoisseur" who often makes baseless comments, arguing that the President's visit to Saint Lucia is about deepening Nigeria's engagement with Caribbean nations and strengthening South-South cooperation.
Nwabufo emphasized the historic and consequential nature of the visit, noting that Saint Lucia is an important gateway to the Caribbean and its citizens are excited about the President's visit.
“Nigeria and citizens of the Caribbean share strong cultural affinity. Nigeria, by the design of nature and history, has a leadership role to play not only in Africa but in every corner of the world where there are Africans.
“President Tinubu is the visionary who sees Nigeria for its immense greatness and who has returned the nation to global reckoning,” he noted.
