Former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Bola Tinubu, Aliyu Audu, has accused Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, of destroying both the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the same time.
Audu said that the FCT Minister was in the PDP but controls
the APC in Rivers State and in the federal capital, with the support of
President Bola Tinubu.
Audu, a member of the APC, stated this during an interview
on Arise News on Thursday, describing Wike as a major problem for the PDP and
the APC.
“Wike is destroying the PDP with the support of the
president because the office of the minister of the FCT is a state power that
can be used to back the president.
“The government I’m part of,” he said in an interview with
Arise News.
“The most uncomfortable part of it that I’ve come to
realize, with my resignation, is how we are very comfortable with pretending
that our problem exists, or we acknowledge it exists, we have the energy to
solve the problem, but rather expend that energy in avoiding the consequences
of solving a problem.
“We want to build but something is in our way. We could use
the energy to go through it, but rather side step it and know that thing is
forever coming to haunt us.
“The FCT minister, he’s in PDP, but he controls the APC in
Rivers State and in the FCT.
“I am a member of the APC in FCT. I ran for local government
chairman in FCT in APC 2015. I did not win the primary ticket, but I was
instrumental to our winning the local government.
“So if you really love the country, you love the party, and
the person who wins, you’re going to work with him to deliver on where you want
to deliver.
“I mean, basically, in our case, what has happened is that
we had a Wike who is a member of the PDP, destroying the PDP with the support
of the President, because the office of the minister of the FCT is not a
political position.
“It’s a state power. So if you keep that state power to back
someone to destroy the opposition, let’s remind ourselves that the fact that
President Bola Tinubu is president today is thanks to the existence of
opposition.
“He might have played a huge role in keeping a position
alive, and he has the biggest reward from installing himself practically.
“It’s not destroying the opposition, because you don’t want
rivalry, you can’t sell me a liberalized economy, but monopolize politics.
“It doesn’t work. You are against monopoly in the economy,
but you are promoting monopoly in politics. Economy is a subset of politics.”
