President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has told
President Bola Tinubu not to listen to the negative things the people are
saying, insisting that transformation was going on across the country.
Akpabio said this during the commissioning of the newly
rehabilitated International Conference Centre, ICC, Abuja on Tuesday.
The former Akwa Ibom State governor said that just as the
ICC has been transformed, the same pace of transformation is ongoing every part
of the country.
He told the President that whether the people like it or not
the Nigerian parliament was proud of him (Tinubu).
“Mr. President, the renovation, rehabilitation and
transformation that we are witnessing at the ICC is what you are bringing to
this country, whether people like it or not. The Nigerian parliament is very
proud of you,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital
Territory, FCT, who supervised the renovation of the national asset, renamed it
after Bola Tinubu.
During his speech, the President said the FCT minister will
now determine who uses the conference centre.
