The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed a personal and profound experience that shaped his ministry.
During the June edition of the Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye shared that God once warned him never to leave the RCCG, or face the death of his firstborn.
Adeboye recounted that when he became born again, God specifically instructed him to remain in the RCCG, despite the presence of other thriving ministries at the time.
He emphasized the importance of obedience, noting that he was willing to serve under his spiritual mentor, despite their differing educational backgrounds.
The man of God urged young Christians to seek divine direction and remain where God places them, rather than chasing trends or personal preferences.
He advised believers to discover where God wants them to stay and stay there, emphasizing the importance of spiritual steadfastness.
“When I got born again, there were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another,” he said. “But God said to me, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die.'”
He noted that at the time, RCCG was relatively obscure, with its headquarters located in a modest building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos. Even though he was a university lecturer, he said God commanded him to serve under his spiritual mentor, who had no formal education.
“I was a lecturer at the university. My father in the Lord didn’t go to secondary school, not even primary,” he said. “But God said this is where you will stay.”
Adeboye clarified that his message was not intended to suggest that RCCG is superior to other Christian denominations, but rather to emphasize the importance of staying in God's appointed place.

I LOVE the fact that our Daddy G.O. admonished younger believers to seek DIVINE DIRECTION..for their lives and ministries. As a worker in RCCG we had a regional "workers meeting in Port Harcourt" once, and Daddy G.O. himself said..Redeemed is not a cult..if you want to leave, you can leave. And I agree, but one should be SURE it's the Lord speaking, not "other voices"...
