The attack on the operatives reportedly carried out on April 13, 2025, also led to the burning of an Army operational vehicle at a checkpoint in the community.

The spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspects were arrested on Monday, following a diligent follow-up on an investigation by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, described the attack as a test of the will of the security agencies and an attack on the soul of a nation.

He said, “Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu in a diligent follow-up of investigation over an attack on police and military operatives that recorded the burning of an Army operational vehicle in Enugwu-Agu Village, Oba Ofemili, Awka North LGA, at about 9.45 am on June 2, 2025 arrested two suspects positively identified in the disturbing incident.
