A tragic incident has occurred in Sarkin-Pawa, Niger State, where a Police Inspector, Bassey Asuquo, reportedly took his own life.
The incident happened on June 25, 2025, at approximately 1:50 a.m. while Asuquo was on special duty.
Prior to the incident, Asuquo had been acting strangely, prompting his Unit Commander to order the retrieval of his rifle as a precaution. However, Asuquo managed to obtain another officer's rifle who was sleeping at the time, and used it to shoot himself in the head.
Asuquo's remains were taken to the General Hospital in Sarkin-Pawa. An investigation is ongoing, and Inspector Titus Bulus has been arrested for questioning.
