A 7-year-old boy, Mohammed Mohammed, has tragically d!ed after being swept away by floodwater in Emiliman Nasarafu ward, Bida Local Government Area of Niger State. The incident occurred on June 26, 2025.
Eyewitnesses attribute the flood to the diversion of drainage channels by Arab Contractors, a firm handling the construction of a bypass road in the area.
The boy's father, Mohammed Usman, is still searching for his son's body, which has not been found despite a community-led search and rescue mission. Usman expressed his sadness and attributed the incident to the will of God.
“My pain is that, up to this moment, my son’s body has not been found. Immediately after the rain stopped, the entire community embarked on the search and rescue mission, but yet, we have not found the body.”
This incident follows a similar tragedy in Mokwa community, Niger State, where over 150 people lost their lives in a flood just weeks ago.
