A statement on Sunday by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said the drugs disguised as tea were recovered at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.
He said the NDLEA officers, acting on credible intelligence, seized 66 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, disguised as green tea.
“The NDLEA had watch-listed the shipment and sustained surveillance around it for over three weeks before inviting other stakeholders for a joint examination last Thursday.
The drug consignment weighing 62.20kg was concealed inside wraps of green tea that came from Thailand via the UAE on an Emirate Airlines flight,” Babafemi added.
