11 Injured in Vehicle Collision on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

At least 11 persons sustained varying degrees of injuries following a head-on collision between two vehicles along the Magboro end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday.

It was reported that one of the drivers fled the scene before emergency responders arrived.

While three passengers escaped unhurt, the injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The spokeperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident and attributed the crash to excessive speeding.

“A total of 14 people were involved —10 males and four females. Of these, 11 sustained injuries, including seven men and four women. Fortunately, no lives were lost,” Okpe stated.

She added that preliminary findings indicated that speeding led to one of the vehicles losing control, causing a direct impact.

“There were two vehicles involved, and the speed led to loss of control by one of them. In a disturbing turn, the second vehicle driver reportedly fled the scene,” she said.

Okpe further disclosed that an investigation had been launched into the incident and called on the public to assist with any information that might lead to the identification and arrest of the fleeing driver.
