A violent attack occurred in Oko, Anambra State, when unknown gunmen stormed Oko Polytechnic student lodges near the Total petrol station and opened fire.
The incident happened on Thursday evening, June 19, it resulted in multiple fatalities and kidnappings.
According to eye witnesses, the gunmen arrived in two cars and began shooting, causing panic and chaos in the area.
Several people were killed, while others were injured and left lying in their blood. Videos shared on social media showed the severity of the attack.
The exact number of people who were kidnapped during the incident is yet to be ascertained.
Students from the Federal Polytechnic Oko captured footage of the attack from their lodges, expressing fears for their lives as the shooting continued for hours.
The prolonged nature of the attack made it difficult for anyone to venture out and provide medical help to those in need.
Authorities are likely to investigate the incident and work to rescue those kidnapped.
