Buhari’s govt wasted eight years of our lives -Adekunle Gold

Adekunle Gold says Nigeria has been on “steady regression” under the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The singer, on Thursday, took to Twitter to share his commentary on the state of the nation, albeit without giving any context.

Gold also lamented that the current administration wasted eight years doing nothing progressive for Nigerians.

“This current administration wasted 8 years of our lives. 8 years, we regressed as a nation,” his tweets read.

Buhari’s eight-year tenure has reached its dusk, with the 2023 presidential election set to happen on February 25.

Nigeria faces a myriad of economic and security troubles, some of which Buhari had promised to tackle if elected as president.

The president has increasingly been at the receiving end of scathing criticism over the critical state of the nation.

At least on two occasions, he has insisted he did his best for Nigeria in comments that many feared were defeatist.

In December 2022, Buhari spoke with Al-Mahfoudh Bin Bayyah, the secretary-general of the Abu Dhabi Forum, and Bob Roberts, his deputy, in Washington where he argued that Nigeria is a large country facing many challenges.

In January, while inaugurating a project in Katsina, Buhari added that he hopes he will be remembered positively for his achievements while in office.

The CBN has also been in the full glare of publicity in recent months over the redesign and circulation of its newly designed naira notes.

Many Nigerians have been expressing their frustration that the newly introduced notes are hardly in circulation.

Citizens across the country also spend an unusually long time at ATMs, queuing to access the new notes for their domestic needs.

This comes at a time when Nigeria is facing a fuel scarcity crisis, with vehicles queuing at petrol stations for hours.
