‘Gunmen enforcing sit-at-home kill’ Osita Iheme’s brother in Imo

Gunmen said to be enforcing a sit-at-home order in Imo state have reportedly killed Prince Iheme, elder brother to Osita Iheme, the actor better known as Pawpaw.

The Punch quoted eyewitnesses as saying the gunmen rode in different vehicles while shooting indiscriminately in various parts of the state.

Prince was said to have been killed in Mbaitoli LGA of the state while going out with Martins Eke, the state commissioner for solid minerals.

It is understood that the pair were riding in the same vehicle when gunmen attacked them. A policeman was also said to have been killed.

An eyewitness, who spoke with the media outlet, claimed the attack was “politically motivated”.

“This attack is politically motivated. We just finished at one campaign rally ground and were heading to Ubommiri. Our convoy was attacked at Amawuihe before Ubommiri,” the eyewitness said.

“Prince Iheme was riding in the same vehicle with the commissioner for solid minerals. Prince Iheme who is Pawpaw’s elder brother was killed on the spot.

“The commissioner who was sworn in two weeks ago was cut badly. He has just been rushed to a hospital. They were driving in a Ford SUV. I pray he makes it.”

The five-day sit-at-home order was said to have been declared by a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the outlawed group.

The order, which took effect on Friday, is billed to last till December 14.

Micheal Abattam, the state police command’s spokesperson, could not be reached for comment as of the time of this report.

Pawpaw is also yet to react to the incident.
