Tinubu, Osinbajo: Southwest strongly considered to produce Buhari’s successor – Gbenga Daniel

Gbenga Daniel, a former Governor of Ogun State, has said the southwest is being considered to produce Nigeria’s next president.

Daniel said the southwest stands a better chance of producing Nigeria’s next president if the region agrees to a consensus candidate.

The former governor urged traditional rulers and political stakeholders in the region to streamline and produce a consensus candidate.

He spoke while addressing journalists at the remembrance service for his late father, Adebola Daniel, at the Abraham Tabernacle Baptist International Worship Centre in Sagamu, Ogun State.

According to Daniel: “The western states or what you can call the south-west is being strongly considered to take over the mantle of leadership for the President.

“As usual you know how it goes, there are many of our people who are qualified, strong, willing and able. But if we really want to retain that opportunity, it is incumbent on all our leaders and elders to come together and streamline.

“If they come together, consider one or two people, the chances are that Nigerians would respond and respect that wish.

“That is why I am appealing to all our Obas and leaders not to rest on their oars. Power is never served a la carte. They, therefore, have duties and responsibilities to come together and say we can present a candidate.”

There are speculations that Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, will run for the presidency in 2023.

Also, the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo is believed to be nursing a presidential ambition.

A lot of pressure groups have been rooting for Tinubu and Osinbajo to contest for the presidency.

However, both Tinubu and Osinbajo have not declared their intention to run for the presidency.

  1. I uphold my belief that Professor Yemi Osinbajo will surely have an edge over Asiwaju Tinubu. They both have what it takes to be the President of Nigeria. But, sincerely, one must have an edge over the other. I took time to look at the credentials of both candidate and I am convinced that Yemi may have a slim edge over Bola. A recollection of the past of both unannounced candidates shows that undoubtedly Bola Tinubu brought Yemi Osinbajo to the political recognition. Osinbajo served under Tinubu when Tinubu was the Governor of Lagos State. No one would dispute the fact that Tinubu recommended him to run as Vice President to PMB. These two facts, undoubtedly put Tinubu an edge over Osinbajo. Let us now look at the spiritual aspect of life. It has been ordained that one day, Osinbajo may likely be the President of Nigeria but not Tinubu. A strong spiritual look at the two would show that Osinbajo is surely going to have a strong acceptance by the general public than Tinubu. By nature, Osinbajo has a small stature but a strong and power heart. Osinbajo is going to deliver Nigeria from abject poverty we find ourselves. From day one he was pronounced the Vice President, he promised his Creator to make himself available fully toward the development of Nigeria. Osinbajo is not a tribalist. He is a true African. His plan is far above Nigeria but the black race if given the opportunity. Conclusively, and spiritually, to me, Osinbajo is the best candidate of all contestant to the Presidency. Nigeria, as a nation is going through a lot of spiritual deliverance. The country needs a committed man like Osinbajo to deliver the country from nepotism, tribalism, corruption and insecurity. No doubt, over the years, Yemi Osinbajo has been working prayerfully toward total liberation of Nigeria from all these influences. I have never met Professor Yemi Osinbajo personally. I have had the opportunity to read his biography and I am convinced he is the man to take over successfully from President Mohammadu Buhari. Let us all jointly move the country forward by shunning tribalism and do what will enhance the future of our dear country.
