Nigeria vs Guinea Bissau: I’m not Super Eagles’ coach – Ahmed Musa on being benched

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has told Nigerian supporters that he is not the team’s coach who decides which players to field or keep on the bench.

The Nigerian skipper has only featured from the substitutes bench for Nigeria in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Nigeria defeated Egypt and Sudan in their first two group games with their skipper, Musa, coming on late from the bench in those games.

Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to give minutes to some fringe players against Guinea Bissau this evening.

Musa said Nigeria should only pray for the team’s success in Cameroon as they look prepared to claim the trophy.

“I am not the coach. Anyone that he chooses to play will give all his best. Whenever I come in I always give what I know how to do,” Musa told reporters on Tuesday ahead of the match.

“Nigerians should keep praying for us and by the grace of God we will make them happy, we know the importance of winning the tournament and we are doing all our best to make that promise fulfilled for them.”
