Doctor, three others arrested as 18-year-old girl dies in Yobe presidential lodge ‘after drug overdose’

An 18-year old girl, said to have recently graduated from secondary school, has died at the Yobe presidential lodge after suspected drug overdose.

In a video clip posted on social media which was later deleted, the deceased was seen naked, while four people were desperately trying to resuscitate her as she was gasping for breath.

The girl, who is said to have had dreams of becoming a lawyer, allegedly took too much drugs — the incident reportedly occurred on Friday.

The presidential lodge, located in Damaturu, is owned by the Yobe state government and is exclusively for very important persons.

It is not yet clear who gave approval for the use of the lodge for private purposes.

Residents who spoke, urged the Yobe state government to ensure proper investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the Yobe state police command has arrested four people in connection with the incident, including one Albash Yahya, a doctor, who is identified as the principal suspect.

The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the state specialist hospital in Damaturu for autopsy.
