#EndSARS: CNN lied to the world about Nigeria – Buhari’s aide, Onochie

Lauretta Onochie, Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, has slammed CNN over its investigative report on the Lekki shooting.

On Thursday, the aide stated that CNN lied to the international community, adding that Nigeria will not be intimidated.

“I’m not upset that CNN lied to the world about my nation, Nigeria. I’m upset that they think we are so stupid that we will swallow their lies. We won’t be bullied into believing a lie!”, she tweeted.

Cable News Network, an American based television channel, said despite the denial by the federal government and the Nigerian Army, its findings show that live bullets were used against peaceful End SARS protesters.

On October 20, soldiers marched to the Lekki toll plaza at about 6:45pm and opened fire.

After the initial claim that troops were not deployed to the location, the Army said only blank bullets were fired.

Brigadier General, Ahmed Ibrahim Taiwo, Commander 81 Division, told the Lagos Judicial Panel that the military arm was called in by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Taiwo noted that the Army responded, “to forestall further violence and loss of lives”.

  1. Where did we find all these coconut heads we call our leaders? Do they think we are all dumb like them? The videos are crystal clear. Evidences are all in the open still they are denying. I weep for Nigeria.

  4. Where are the 38 dead bodies on CNN’s report? The google images were able to pick out the army leaving the barracks to the toll gate and people at the tollgate moving but no images of 38 lifeless bodies as stated in the CNN tweet of 23 Oct. Why do Nigerians want to believe that there was a massacre? Indeed there was shooting as we all heard and saw but the CNN report further corroborated the army’s story of using blanks. If indeed they shot live ammunition into the crowd, it will take hours to clear the carnage that would have occurred. CNN were only able to put one supposedly lifeless body at the scene at 1.30am, over 6 hrs after the soldiers left. Up till today we are still waiting for family/friends of 12 or 38 or 78 dead to speak up. Haa we the youth must do better if we really want to make a difference.
