The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has asked
Nigerians to disregard any messages from some personality claiming they are
beneficiaries of COVID-19 funds.
This week, several people shared screenshots of messages
they received, asking them to claim up to N50,000 as palliatives from the
federal government.
However, the NCDC in an SMS on Sunday, warned that it was a
scam.
It read: “BEWARE OF SCAM: Disregard any message that you are
a beneficiary of COVID-19 funds or your account has been credited by NCDC.
“Delete immediately and do not share.”
On Saturday night, the agency announced 601 new coronavirus
cases.
It brings the current tally in the country to 51,905.
