Rio Olympics: Nigeria Senate To Probe Dream Team VI Travel Delay



President of the Nigeria senate, Olusola Saraki, has hinted that the house will investigate the circumstances behind the country's U-23s' delayed departure to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.


The Eagles were initially scheduled to leave their training base in Atlanta, United States of America for Manaus venue of their opening Group B fixture against Japan on Monday but only jetted in for the game few hours before kick off due to lack of funds.

"Congratulations to the #Dream Team for the 5-4 win against Japan#Rio 2016. #Thank you Delta for making it possible for them to make the match," Saraki wrote on his Twitter handle on Friday.

"Senate Committee on sports chaired by Senator Obinnna Ogba will look into the embarrassing situation that happened to the Dream Team V1.

"When minister of finance appeared in the senate three weeks ago, we raised the issue and she assured funds were released."

The Samson Siasia led-side who top their group with three points will take on Sweden in their second game in the men's football event on Sunday.
Sweden and Colombia battled to a 2-2 draw in the group's other game.
