FG’s proposed reduction of fuel price, continuation of APC’s deceits – Fayose

Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose has described Federal Government’s announced reduction of petrol pump price from N87 to N85 per litre as a continuation of the deceit propagated by All Progressives Congress (APC) led government.

The governor who also challenged the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed to relocate to Sambisa in Borno State or Yobe and move around there without heavy military security if indeed he was sure that Boko Haram had been defeated.

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said; “only God’s intervention can save Nigeria from the present economic and security problems as it is glaring that the man running the affairs of the country at the federal level does not have any answer to the problems.”

He said; “Even the Holy Bible said in James 1:5 that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God and as it is, Nigerians must assist the President in asking for wisdom and understanding to tackle the country’s economic and security problems before Nigeria is further plunged into more woes with the federal government’s decision to borrow N2.2 Trillion, which translates to N6.066 billion per day to finance the 2016 Budget.” He described the Federal Government’s announced reduction of petrol pump price from N87 to N85 per litre as a continuation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government’s governance by deceit, saying; “Even secondary school students of economics know that you cannot deregulate and regulate at the same time.”

The governor said; “it is only in a confused and clueless economy that government will plan to spend more when revenue has reduced by more than 50 percent.” Governor Fayose, who maintained that petrol will not sell below N100 per litre in 2016, added that; “Even now that the price is N87 and subsidy is yet to be removed, Nigerians are buying at between N130 and N300 per litre. What will now happen when they remove subsidy and allow market forces to determine the price?”

The governor described claimed by the Information Minister that Boko Haram insurgents had been defeated as strange, saying; “Nigerians will only take the minister serious if he relocates to either Sambisa in Borno State or Yobe State and stay there till the end of March, next year without heavy military security.”

He said; “To show their level of confusion, two days after the Minister of Information declared that Boko Haram had been defeated, President Buhari said the government would persuade Boko Haram to abandon their fight. One then wonders how the same Boko Haram insurgents Lai Mohammed said were already defeated will have to be persuaded to abandon their fight.

“Interestingly, the same Boko Haram that Lai Mohammed said had been defeated reported attacked Kimba village in Gur ward of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State yesterday night.

“Therefore, the Information Minister must show Nigerians how peaceful Borno and Yobe States have become after the defeat of Boko Haram by relocating to either Sambisa, Maiduguri or Yobe.”

  1. I'm not a fan of Fayose and I think he talks too much but let's face it; he's on point this time. How can you order a reduction after announcing there will be subsidy renewal?

You cannot regulate prices for an industry that is determined by market forces.

  5. What kind of Governor are you? All that you pray in Nigeria is for this present Government to fail. You are not a good Nigerian, nothing good in Nigeria that pleases everybody will please you. All that you want in Nigeria is doom. What are you going to gain if Nigeria failed. Because PDP failed Nigeria should failed. All you predict in your country is failure and doom.
If Nigeria failed how will you develop or move your state forward.
I have seen the reason why people call you mad man.

  8. This is what you get when a common tout becomes governor - noisemaker. Obama spent more money in the years of recession that was how he got the American economy back on its feet. Market forces include the price of raw material- in this case crude oil. That dictates that the price of petrol should becoming down now and that's what the govt is trying to achieve with all the complexities of Nigeria. But noise makers and wailing wailers will not see it.

  9. I think it's high time people started ignoring this loud mouth called Fayose, he wants to be in the news all the time for the wrong reasons, not for opening/completing new projects or breaking new grounds, but for wishing the country doom. I really pity Ekiti people, by Easter now, he would give some carpenters or labourers gifts instead of trying to make their lives better. Shame

  11. If truly subsidy works, we should have more fuel now.
Is fayose not aware of oil price. Why should FG paid subsidy when by open market calculation is less than N87 per litre. I also believe that there nothing wrong in trying or making mistake.
Lets see how it will go and if it doent work, then a decision can be made.
N200 million per day on subsidy is too much when the oil price is less $37 per barrel.
That also shows how you have made your state budget

  12. A lot of pretense and indulgence in the name of politics and political affiliation that increases error because of bias and prejudice. I appreciate Gov Fayose not because of his past but his present and promising future. The economy is really in a mess with no definite clue about how to move from here by the GMB led government but to lay claim to the decay caused by past governments especially the immediate past. For how long shall we dwell in the past? When will you start to advance this nation practically and abolish theoretical propaganda to advance a saintly outlook. May Fayose be spiritually and physically energized as a formidable opposition to curb indulgence of many of this GMB administration despite their inaction, insensitivity, cluelessness and non proactive governing style. God bless Nigerian and Nigerians.

  13. Only the enemies of Nigeria or ignoramus will kick against subsidy removal. The best time to remove that fraud called subsidy is NOW.By international standard and current market trend, petrol is supposed to sell for around N53 now. If Buhari is sincere, let him announce the removal now and allow anybody that wishes to import petrol and before you know it, the price will crash. If mkt forces makes it to rise, so be it. Afterall we have been paying between N180 to N200 per litre and heaven did not fall.
