The Nigerian Army said on Sunday that no amount of distractions would deter it from ending terrorism in Nigeria by December.
Theater Commander, Operation “Lafiya Dole,” Maj.-Gen. Yushau Abubakar, gave this assurance while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri.
Abubakar was reacting to recent spate of suicide bombings by suspected insurgents in some parts of the country.
He pointed out that the bombings were aimed at diverting the attention of the military from achieving its target in the ongoing anti-terrorism war.
“I want to assure all that for every second that passes, we get more committed to fighting the insurgents; we cannot be deterred.
“We are doing as much as we could to ensure that we completely eradicate the insurgents as quickly as possible because we are aware of the timeline within which to complete the task,” he said.
He said the military had already gotten clues about those involved in the recent suicide bombings in Maiduguri.
“We searched the houses and certain items that we recovered at the vicinity gave us some clues,” Abubakar said.
He said although investigations had commenced on the clues, it would take time before reaching a conclusion.
“Investigation on those that we suspect that are either participating or hiding, fueling or conniving with those that carried out those acts, is ongoing.
“They will be exposed in due course,” Abubakar assured.
He appealed to Nigerians to be security conscious to avoid future occurrence.
“The citizens need to know that security is their personal responsibility as individuals.
“They must be able to secure themselves and doing so means they need to be security conscious.
“Any suspicious movement within the environment should be reported to security agents immediately,” he advised.
Abubakar said the military was working on a strategy that would enable individuals pass vital information to security agents without being noticed.

It's time Nigerians begin to ask PDP exactly what they truly know about the spate of suicide bombings in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteFirst, PDP tried pinning reason for Boko Haram and Suicide Bombings on PMB when they saw him as the only threat to their rule in the upcoming last elections.
Then they tried using Boko Harm and Suicide Bombings as a tool of Religious Sentiment against PMB as a Muslim.
PDP must come clean about who is actually sponsoring all these hideous crimes against Nigeria.
Now that one of their key sources of financial misappropriations and financial reckless is under arrest and may have already started singing like Canary, we have a sudden hike in Bombings to force Nigerians to be distracted and diverted.
I leave the rest to all sincere and patriotic Nigerians to judge.
May the Lord continue to frustrate and reduce to oblivion all the known and secret enemies of Nigeria in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen and Amen.
May the Lord erase all the known and secret enemies of Nigeria like human fart in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen and Amen.
You are a dummy, is it not your PMB who said he will make Nigeria ungovernable if he did not win election in Nigeria hence the birth of Boko haram when he lost to GEJ.
DeleteWe tend to politicize everything instead of putting all hands on deck to tackle a common enemy.
DeleteA nation does not make progress when we keep looking for what will divide us.
God bless Nigeria
Fight against terrorism is not an easy fight. Because you are fighting with men who have already signed death sentences for their lives. They would continue to fight because they have nothing to loss. However, these people that bomb are mainly brainwashed messengers. The real people are the sponsors. The real machineries. Until these sponsors are crumbled. The fight cannot end. If you kill a few Boko Haram now, the main perpetrators would re-strategizie, recruite, and the fight continues. What Nigerian military needs is more of intelligence fight. To dig out the sponsors and destroy Boko Haram right from its root.
DeleteAm with you, you are right, Boko Haram has gone beyond political and religious factors. It must be tackled from the root
DeleteGen. Abubakar's statement has exposed his ignorance and inability to carry out the duties assigned to him as a military commander. How does he talk about distraction when the enemy he is fighting launched a counter attack . You don't expect BH to fold their hands and watch you destroy their empire. They only did this to stop you and the entire Nigerian Army from carrying out propaganda.
ReplyDeleteWhether you like it or not, the days of Boko haram is nearly over in Nigeria.
DeleteStupid comment, I cwnnot waste my time to read this...
ReplyDeleteWho was in charge of this country when those attacks started? Hmmmmmmm.....

ReplyDeleteQuestion: Who was in charge of this country when those attacks started? Hmmmmmmm.....
