Nigeria’s power generation goes up to 4656mw

The Management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Wednesday stated that the National Grid Transmission has recorded another peak of 4662 megawatt (mw) of electricity.

In a statement by TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Seun Olagunju, it said the new peak was attained at 08.00pm on Tuesday.

The statement recalled that TCN management had announced the attainment of the previous peak transmission of 4656mw on 15th July this year.

Power generation and transmission have been recording new peaks above 4500 mw following improvements in gas supply to the generating stations as well as equipment/infra-structure upgrade and enhanced human capacity of system operators.

TCN assures that it would continue to work at enhancing the capacity to transmit more power to the electricity distribution companies.

It would be recalled that during the immediate past administration, electricity output crashed to an all time, historic low of 727 mw.

  1. My fear is dat all wat is happening now on d electricity part are pretentious and time-bombing in the sense that, when buhari tenure expires the so-called owners of phcn will go back to the bad old days of no-electricity so the solution here is
    - buhari should re-shuffle the power administration by employing capable and competent ppl who are not biase to operate it
    - buhari shud make the distribution of power open to other enterpreneaurer and establish a 3-4 card meter company competing to provide power to the nation and choice of usage will be on the mases choices just like the competition btw mtn, glo, airtel and etisalat. This is the only solution for a permanent power solution

  6. I am in support of the first comment; customer making choice of preferred service provider encourages competition. The tremendous improvement experience is just a tip of the iceberg. Once corruption is being eliminated from our coast, then resources channeled toward power supply will definitely make a positive impact and output by operating at the optimum capacity. Power generation distribution and transmission must hit at least a target of 100,000MW capacity before the expiration of this administration. We have all it takes to get this done but corruption has been a hindrance. Nigeria must regain back its past glory. We should all get ready for a economy explosion were every large, medium and small scale industries will bounce back and we will all enjoyed the actual dividend of democracy. Nigeria should continue to support, encourage, and pray for the leadership at the helm of affair. I am proud to be a Nigeria.

  7. What so many people don't know and have not really cared to ask is,the GEJ regime did many power projects based on gas as opposed to the hydro-power systems previously existent, but vandals have incessantly bursted the pipelines. The question is, what motives do these vandals have, and who sent them? Its obvious that a lot of well connected people did not want him to succeed in making progress in that sector. The same infrastructures are the same that is used to achieve this now. How come? Its obvious that Buhari could not have executed or completed new power projects in two months.
