DSS storms residence of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki

Operatives of the Department of State Service on Thursday stormed the Asokoro, Abuja residence of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

It was learnt that the operation was in connection with the secret probe into how billions of naira allocated to the war against terrorism was allegedly looted.

The operatives were said to have searched the house and left after some time.

We could not immediately ascertain whether Dasuki was arrested by his unexpected gun-wielding visitors, but security sources said it was likely that the ex-NSA would be invited subsequently for interrogation on how he administered the huge sums released for the prosecution of the anti-terror war in the North-East.

Dasuki, who was appointed as NSA by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2012, was relieved of his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari a few days ago.

It was gathered that the operation against Dasuki was two-pronged as a team of DSS operatives was also deployed in his family house in Sokoto.

The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “The invasion of Dasuki’s residence is not unconnected with the determination of the current administration to recover all looted funds by senior officials of the past government. So, no one should read any political motives to it.”

The DSS spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar, could not be reached for comment as she did not respond to calls made to her telephone set. A text message sent to her failed to deliver.

What will GMB sustain you with? His bare hands? He will need all the looted funds he can recover and more to make any headway in this sustenance you talk about. Good job so far. I don't envy the man. The whole country is a mess. Where will he start from? Godspeed to him.
