Chief Emmanuel Agbo, the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue state has declared that the governor of the state, Samuel Ortom of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still a PDP member.
Agbo noted that Ortom along with Benue State Assembly member, Nick Eworo, who were at the centre of a recent brawl at the Benue State House of Assembly are still PDP members.
Agbo who made this known on at a press conference on Friday in Makurdi, the state capital noted that both of them have not satisfied all conditions necessary for a member of their calibre to leave the party.
It would be recalled that lawmakers belonging to the APC and PDP were locked in a brawl at the Benue State House of Assembly, north-central Nigeria, on Tuesday, 24 June, following a letter addressed to the Speaker by members of APC to appoint majority leader for the Assembly.
In response to the brawl, the state party chairman declared that the PDP remains the majority party in the house as according to him, Nick Eworo was not expelled from the party as he claims. He said the ward executive which were claimed to have expelled Nick lacks the the powers to expell a members of Nick’s standing.
He stated that if Eworo wants to leave PDP he will be required to follow laid down guidelines which involve relinquishing the party’s mandate to face a fresh election. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Should Orton too relinquish is office n recontest, PDPigs u wil not succeed
ReplyDeleteThat's many mistakes of APC, and a lesson to them as well. Akume high jacked the party and single handedly gave the governorship ticket to Ortom who was less than a week old in the party upon his defection after loosing out in the PDP primaries.
ReplyDeleteWas there even a primary election at the state primaries in Benue for APC at all. A date had been fixed, Ugba petitioned by seeking a court injunction, this had not been sorted out, the next thing is the emergence of Ortom after failing at the PDP congress. Is this not an act of corruption they claim to fight against?
