Jonathan intervenes in PDP crisis

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday evening met some Peoples Democratic Party major stakeholders with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis rocking the party.

There has been clamour by some of the party’s chiefs, including Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State for the resignation of the party’s National Working Committee members.

The development has so far set those who are making the call against the Adamu Muazu-led NWC that has denied complicity in the party’s defeat in the general elections.
Jonathan had earlier intervened in the crisis with a directive to all stakeholders to stop the blame game.

The Wednesday evening meeting at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja was described as “private” and hence was not opened to the press.

Those sighted by journalists on their way to the venue included the National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, and the National Woman Leader, Kema Chikwe.

The meeting was still ongoing as of 8pm when this report was filed.

Members of the NWC had not been attending meetings lately in the Villa.

All of them were missing when the Ahmadu Ali-led PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation presented its report to Jonathan on April 30.
