Kim Kardashian's step dad, Bruce Jenner has revealed that he identifies as a woman - his 'true self' and a childhood dream - in an explosive ABC interview with Diane Sawyer.

The 65-year-old Olympic gold medalist and reality TV star sparked rumors about his gender identity last year after visibly altering his appearance.
 He says he began the process in the 1980s, after a lifetime of feeling uncomfortable in his skin.

"For all intents and purposes, I am a woman," he told Sawyer. "I was not genetically born that way and as of now I have all the male parts... But I still identify as female."

He said this is the last time he will be known as Bruce Jenner - but didn't reveal a new name yet.

During the 1980s, Jenner began taking female hormones and continued doing so for five years. He confided in his older sister and admitted dressing up in her clothes when younger.

Jenner says he dreams as a woman.

Eventually, he stopped taking the female hormones because he didn't want to disappoint people.

But that didn't heal the pain he dealt with everyday.

"I look at women and think, 'How lucky they are to be themselves," Jenner explains.

He's been back on female hormones for the past year and a half.

Jenner says throughout the years, we have seen him out in public dressed as a woman but he wasn't recognized.

"I lived a lie my whole life and I can't do that any longer," Jenner said. "Let's take the damn ponytail out," he said, as he did exactly that on camera.


After months of rumors Bruce Jenner finally set the record straight during an interview with Diane Sawyer.

As for his marriage and time on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians?"

Jenner says he had a great sex life with ex-wife Kris and loved her very much. He acknowledged that Kris has seen him dressed like a woman.

Being in his 60s, he was afraid that his life would end without the chance to live in the body he knew was meant to have.

Jenner says he has "girl parties" at his Malibu home, where he can dress as a woman without judgment.

He says he was terrified to tell his children, as he did not want to hurt them.

Jenner first told son Brandon, 33, who tells Sawyer that his father was very nervous during their conversation.

"When you're that close to somebody, you notice little things ... I feel like I am getting an upgraded version of my dad."

Jenner, who happily showed Sawyer a black lace dress in his closet, says he will always be Dad to his children.

It's been an emotional roller coaster, though.

At the time of the interview, Jenner says his daughters have been reluctant to see the person he calls "her."

He says Kim Kardashian has been the most accepting, saying, "Girl, you gotta rock it baby... you gotta look really good."
