My attacks on Buhari, nothing personal, i was only doing my job – Femi Fani-Kayode

The spokesperson for President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign team, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Wednesday stated that all his attacks against the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, and his party, the All Progressives Congress, during the electioneering, were what his job required of him and not personal.

He also commended the APC campaign directorate for doing something “they believe in”.
“There was absolutely nothing personal as regards this Directorate or myself. I had nothing personal against anybody. I was simply doing my job for which I have no regrets and I wish them well and I sincerely hope that they will take Nigeria to a level that we can all be proud of,” he said.

Mr. Fani-Kayode also congratulated Mr. Buhari for his victory and also commended President Jonathan for conceding defeat.

“We start by saying that we commend and we congratulate General Muhammadu Buhari for winning this election. We also wish to commend our President, President Goodluck Jonathan, for having the courage to concede that he has lost the election at the earliest moment and also for being able to stand up and rise above party politics and being able to speak like a statesman,” he said.

The former Aviation Minister also prayed for peace in the country and success for Mr. Buhari.

“May God grant each and everyone of us peace. May He watch over our nation. May He guide our President for the next two months whilst he is still in power and thereafter and may He guide and lead the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, in the herculean task that lies ahead for him.

“My prayer is that he brings our nation together, heals the wounds and that he builds the bridges in terms of religion, ethnicity and region that he needs to build in order for us to make Nigeria a better place and to ensure that Nigeria becomes a great country that she is destined to be,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to continue to support the PDP, despite losing the election.

He also asked for full cooperation to the incoming administration “and to remember that we are first and foremost Nigerians before anything else”.

Mr. Fani-Kayode said he had no regret for serving Mr. Jonathan and the PDP. He also advised the PDP not to lose hope.

“And having lost, it does not mean that it is the end to the world, it just means that we need to re-group, re-organise ourselves and begin the process all over again because another elections will come in a few years’ time.

“And that is where we are today. We have conceded that we have lost. We acknowledge the fact that we fought a good fight. We do not have any fears about the future. We did the right thing during the campaign. We have no regrets about our candidate or the way in which we conducted our campaign and we will live to fight another day,” he said.

  6. While it is very essential to forgive one another, it is needful to correct, reprimand or reprove people like FFK, Fayose, Aribisala and Gani Adams where necessary to prevent setting a wrong precedent. Act wisely while you are sent on errand.

  11. General Buhari,Sir please do as Aregbe did in osun state. He is so devinly guided to the extent that it is only thieves that hate him and these thieves are continously falling. His character and developmental policies attracted every reasonable indegen and non indegene of Osun. For Oyinlola and Isiaka Adeleke(his former opponents) to have joined him in building Osun state shows that he is living the life of the holy prophets(SAW).He prooved those who innitially clamed that he would islamise Osun indegene wrong.God has chosen u for us to cleans Nigeria.Search for pple of wisdom, integrity and loyalty to work with u and above all, be seriously prayerful as that sit is very HOT.However,FFK (Omo Ale) and his likes may beg u for job, please do not let him push u to betray us.They are the crop of devil that mislead oga Jona.Remember that this is a trust and Allah(God) will ask for accountability. May Allah(God) protect u and ur family and guide you rightly for us.We are looking unto you as another Muritala Ramat Muhammed that we lost some decades back. You wanted to do same between 1983 and 1983 but the Idiot of Niger state stopped u from doing it.Many Nigerians travel(myselves also) to a very long distance(their registration centre) simply because they wanted to vote for change.

  13. The idiot that you are, the yorubas say "Ti a ba ran eni ni ise eru a fi ti omo je" meaning if you are sent an erand/message as a slave, you deliver the message as a son. Since when have suddenly become a prayer warrior. Don't concede defeat if yo like go to supreme court, Nigerian masses have spoken with their vote. The idiot that you are, a man who was a governor of a state when you were nobody, a minister and then a former head of State, that to you does not have certificate and not qualified to rule your country, God has proved to you that he alone is the one that puts people in position of authority in spite of your campaign of calumny.

  19. I am surprise that some of the semi-literate PDP supporters in this forum have frizzled out and have shut their trap on this platform. You can imagine when some of them commented that public opinion poll cannot determine the direction of votes in the real election. I remember that I ran a comment on it asking the friend to tarry a little bit and check history of developed democracy all over the world where opinion poll scored a probability tending towards 1. We can see the veracity of opinion poll in the recent Nigeria's Presidential election now. Nigeria's dead bones shall rise again.

  20. Nothing will happen to him. We should be reasonable a times. He did a good job the way APC did. Unless Buhari wants to scatter the country because there are important issues in the country that needs attention and not trivialities.

  21. So you were sent to America to school in one of the best institution in the world only to pick a job where you will be insulting elders that are older than your father. Is it every job you are giving you must take. Nigerians are not known to insult elders. That has being our traditional value and cannot be taking away from us even when we were born and breed in the western world. We all know the reputation we recieve bcoz baba OBJ is from nigeria and he fed you while he was president. He was wise in his wisdom to percieve the kind of man you are on time. You and fayose have err and must be punished for it so you will be giving an option of chosing where you will serve. We have many of them, kirikiri, Afikpo,Benin , ondo e t c it your choice.
