President Goodluck Jonathan may reshuffle his cabinet any time soon, a development that may consume some powerful Ministers. A report on Monday has indicated.
Jonathan is likely to use the occasion of the swearing-in of new ministers recently cleared by the Senate, on his return to Abuja, to drop the bombshell.
Among cabinet members reportedly marked for replacement is the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke.
It was gathered that the strategy is part of Jonathan’s “three-prong approach” to win more support as the campaign pulls into the home stretch.
The source said: “Two of the planks are already in full throttle; getting the anti-terror campaign to an irreversible point of victory and to throwing himself completely into the ground game.
“The latter has seen the president return to the South-west battle ground repeatedly. The VP is also all over the North.
“The moves have put Jonathan’s opponents on notice that he is ready for the battle and the steps have seen his popularity soaring up”.
The third and final leg of the strategic steps being taken by the president is said to be the last minute cabinet shake-up to shave off “the dormant and liability ministers”.
“The petroleum minister is said to be untouchable. You just wait and see if she survives the next shake-up,” a source said.
“The president is aware that her presence has brought so much ill feeling to his government. The decision to let her go was taken in the first week of February.”
Allison-Madueke, 55, joined the then President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua government from inception in 2007 as minister of transport.
She was appointed to head the petroleum ministry in 2010.
Diezani is the current President of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC.

Medicine after death,it will not work for mr president because he is doing all these because of despiration.
ReplyDeleteGo and learn how to spell. It's called "desperation" and not "despiration". Thank me later. Myl, Jonathan is staying there till May 29 2019. Go hug transformer if en dey vex you.
Delete@1:01 i think u are a fool for saying GEJ till 19 the surfferness of nigerians shall come upon u and ur generation unborn, for supporting evil.
DeleteGoat, i belive u are nt staying in naija?
DeleteWhere does he stay den.
DeleteYet it will not change my mind to vote for you.
ReplyDeleteYou tried showing the world you are better and learned by correcting someone else when he misspelt "desperation",try and read your own post to see your mistakes as well. Making mistakes here doesn't mean the writer is not well educated than you
ReplyDeleteIf Nigerians fall for this deceptive tactics by allowing PDP to rig this election then they deserve whatever happens to them and the country afterwards. Normally going by the situation in the country, the majority of the morally just electorates are fed up with the stagnation and directionless style of Pre.Jonathan. Removing Diezani now is deceptive, she would be reinstated if PDP manages to rig and win the election. If Obanikoro could be brought back as minister then Diezani would be brought back as well
ReplyDeleteYou got it: GEJ would bring back Diezani if he is re-elected. Nigerians need to understand the bond between Jonathan and Diezani. The bond predates Jonathan's administration. Diezani's first cousin is the mother of Jonathan's only known biological children.
DeleteNo wonder patience cant question cos of d kids, she is a lifeline to her motherhood. I now see why d woman feels aso rock is her property. But jona tactics wnt work
DeleteGEJ, medicine after death. GEJ wants to win by all means, it means he has not done well for the past five years. He has some skeletons in his cupboard. Conscience is the best judge.
ReplyDeleteOur president is good apart from insurgence and corruption among his cabinets and even from grassroots, If he can curb those corruptions, stop oil theft, stop boko haram and bring normalcy in North, diversify the economy away from oil dependency, Nigerian economy will accelerate again no matter the oil price because we are destined to be a rich country with our natural and human resources. I already know that any trade you carry out in any part of Nigeria, once you cannot get hungry because of the big market. We only need peaceful environment.
ReplyDeleteBut can he,else he wud ve done it in 6 yrs. He is simply weak n fears faces
