A leader of the Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has said the group endorsed the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan based on its conviction that he would implement the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference if he wins.
Adebanjo, told our correspondent on Friday, that the President had shown commitment to the call for the restructuring of the country by convening the conference.
He said, “Some other parties did not believe in the exercise. We have talked about the many problems confronting Nigeria but the main one is to restructure. We need to restructure the country.’’
The Afenifere leader added that all what Nigerians were clamouring for had been taken care of by the recommendations of the confab.
‘’When we talk about corruption, good governance and the reduction in the salaries of members of the National Assembly, among others, they were addressed in the report. That is why we are insisting on its implementation. This is our demand and he has promised to implement it because he believes in it,” he noted.
Spokesman for the group, Yinka Odumakin, told journalists on Tuesday in Akure, Ondo State after Jonathan visited a leader of the group, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, in his residence that Afenifere was endorsing Jonathan for a second term.
“Afenifere supports the President’s reelection because he had the courage to convoke the national conference and we hope that he will implement the report.
“The President expressed the commitment that he will adopt the report within 12 months of returning to office,” Odumakin said. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

You people belong in old people's home. Has Jonathan implement any report in 6 yrs? You people should have kept quiet because you are afenifeiya. Yinka Odumakin lacks integrity. You have justified your pay now you can keep your opinion to your sorry selves.
ReplyDeleteThis is fake afenifere, ignore them!
ReplyDeleteOdumakin is supporting Jonathan too? It's finished for Buhari...
ReplyDeleteI believe in restructuring Nig ,more.power.to states and local govt, decentralize some.of the.monopolized social infractructure and unburden the fed govt with all yhe loads it carry.this is the way to greater Nig.true democracy, its long over due,SW,SS,SE,NC.believes in this, its only thise who have been taking undue advantage of the near.unitary government to the detriment of their people that are opposing it,
ReplyDeleteAPC does not support the conference from onset. So if you don't want the implementation of the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference which will be the best way for Nigeria to go forward, you should vote APC. WE SHOULD BE WISE!

ReplyDeleteThis afenifere gang are a bundle of dissapointment, particularly yinka odumakin talking from both sides of the mouth,God will put all of you to shame.
ReplyDeleteOga Jonah i hail o, may you win again o IJN amen
ReplyDeleteThe fact remains that the Afenifere should have not openly sided with any political party but remains uncommitted to any political party. Yoruba culture demands that you should maintain a level of neutrality when two sons are fighting for one equal rights. Both Buhari and Jonathan should be regarded as equal sons by any standard!
