Renowned Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to abandon his re-election bid so that the All Progressives Congress candidate, Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) can emerge the winner of the presidential election next month.
Watch video below...
Mbaka, who heads the popular Catholic Adoration Centre in Enugu, said this in his New Year sermon titled “From Good luck to Bad luck,” while addressing thousands of parishioners on Thursday.
He urged all well-meaning Nigerians to vote for Buhari on February 14.
According to the cleric, Jonathan has disappointed Nigerians and cannot deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
Mbaka subsequently knelt down in front of the altar, cried and asked God to give Nigeria a good leader and not Jonathan. He used the opportunity to beg Nigerians to vote wisely in the forthcoming elections.
He said, “I love President Goodluck Jonathan and I used to be his ardent fan, but I want good for my people and that’s why I want Nigerians to vote out Goodluck Jonathan and vote General Muhammad Buhari. I don’t care if Buhari is a Muslim and from the North; all I care about is that Buhari can save Nigeria.”
Ironically, Mbaka had recently endorsed Jonathan’s re-election.
It was learnt that the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, had taken Jonathan’s wife, Patience, to Mbaka, where the cleric said he would pray for Jonathan’s victory.
However, after prayers, Mbaka said the sign he received from God was that Jonathan was not fit to rule the nation anymore.
Mbaka further explained that one of the reasons Jonathan is no longer fit to rule Nigeria for the next four years was the high level of insecurity which the President had failed to address as well as corruption in the country.
He said it was unfortunate that the over 200 Chibok girls who were abducted by terrorists over 200 days ago had not been rescued despite series of promises made by Jonathan.
He further urged the Federal Government to account for the missing $20bn and stop insurgency in the country.
Mbaka maintained that Buhari could not Islamise Nigeria as being rumoured in some circles.
He said he had never met the APC candidate but urged Nigerians not to forget that Buhari fought corruption to a standstill during his administration between December 1983 and August 1985.

Tell them Dear Reverend. I know Ijaw people will curse, but the truth may be bitter, but must be told.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I feel u have been paid.. is this what a Catholic priest is supposed to preach? Pls dont use the name of God to brain wash people...
ReplyDeleteHey you can't pay him, he makes a lot of money from his congregation. He is just saying his opinion and in his own perspectives which I don't also support. Even many of his followers don't buy that opinion.
DeleteHe is entitled to his opinion. But should not desecrate the pulpit.
ReplyDeleteHow much did they paid you
ReplyDeleteMBAKA MINED UR BUSINESS & LIV GEJ ALONE
ReplyDeleteAs for me, i wil stil vote him based on his plans towards d good f all nigerians. A selfless person s nt too desperate in life. He s one f such
ReplyDeleteWell I give this our RFEM. This is his personal view. Our heavenly father knows those that are serving him truthfully and those using their earthly ordained position to creat discord amongst people. Very soon the judgment of Almighty God will soon manifest upon them all. This message the RFEM delivered is a political message and can only pass for a campaign for Buhari and not a goodwill message for any right thinking person in this Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteGJ is the cause of his own mess he is in now. If any did even a little to fight corruption.
ReplyDeleteGEJ is good luck for Nigeria and we will vote for his second term, Catholic Priest go and stop Homo sexual in your vine yard and stay out of Politics.
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for the catholic Bishops for these mess this priest has dragged the church into over the years. I believe that Mbaka having made enough money through his adoration and turning the altar into a political platform is set to leave the church. CI kena!
ReplyDeleteTJ, thanks so much for being so nice and charitable. You must know that what Fr. Mbaka said does not represent the view of the Catholic Church in Nigeria about GEJ because Mbaka has no such powers. The young man called Mbaka has derailed so badly and we don't need the bishops to tell us that. Just carry on and vote whoever you have in mind. As for me, I spite of Mbaka's ranting, I'm voting GEJ any time any day. NO to GMB! NO to BH!
DeleteThis is the beginning of Ejike Mbaka's failure!
DeleteTj, why in earth must you call the a mess? Did you even listen to this father? The people like you really want to destroy this country beyond repair? Honestly, if all men of God of this great country can be this bold in saying the truth perhaps we won't be in this mess we are today. If you have anything we can call brain am not sure you say what you said. When we should be praising our men of God for speaking out you are the condemning one who spoke out fool. Go ahead and vote GEJ just for only reason best known to you.
DeleteSir, But the reasons you are giving have been there even before you agreed to pray for jona 's victory when you met his wife and dep senate president. Why the change now. I just hope is not becos they did not yield to your request or demand.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you people disturbed without confirming from Rev Mbaka. From the write up can't you read gutter journalism. Mbaka I know has a way of airing his views on strong issues and not this way.
ReplyDeleteIt is a video recording. Do your homework before comment.
DeleteI agree with him but never Buhari. An Islamist dictator
ReplyDeleteGentle Rev. In as much as I like u and belive in ur msgs n prophesies, I still tink GEJ is most prefered by me to Buhari.
ReplyDeleteMbaka has only one vote and may have been oiled in the mouth by APC Rochas and Rotimi Amechi with Imo and Rivers money. Buhari will win when fowl develops breasts and dog grows horns. He, OBJ and APC knows they will not win that is why they are planning for Interim or parallel govt. I believe Britain who has lost out since the southerners started ruling is giving them this idea as they did before biafran war. As Briatian equally covered her sponsored genocide during biafran war committed by Briatain and North against easterners including south south. Britain may have promise Buhari and co supply of war equipment, international and diplomatic backup. I am also forseeing USA playing along with them. Oil is no longer favouring both Britain and USA. So the plan is to get rid of oil producing President of Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteMay God/ Allah direct is on who to vote for and not Fr. Mbaka. He should rather pray for peace to reign in Nigeria. Rome wasn't built in a day. Also USA didn't develop in only 6 years.. Long term developments take time. We have to be optimistic and patient
ReplyDeleteWhen will u stop abusing & cursing Muslims, Islam, buhari, apc, northerners etc. Join d train of wellmeaning Nigerians dt wants change in d polity. Vote buhari, vote ambode, vote apc!!!
ReplyDeleteNigerian brain are so volatile, is this not the same Buhari the wall in june 2013 that a attack on boko haram was unjust? Did he not criticise the federal government for proscribing BH, declaration of a state of emergency on the affected states, and declaration of full scale way on BH? Did he not as why the Boko haram boys were being killed instead of being granted amnesty like the Niger Delta militants? Why did he not sue the picture newspapers for publishing all that information if they were false? Did he explain what he meant by making the nation ungovernable if he last the 2011 elections and by saying the monkeys and babboons being sommes in blood? Can he still be considered a responsible person after making these utterances? How come it is also his party thru Gov. Amaechi that is threatening to run a parreil government if not voted into pour? Does the lives of innocent Nigerians that may be wasted if they attempt this meant and thing to them? Have we so soon forgotten the austerity measures imposed by his government and how soldiers moved into the markets to forcefully dispose of goods belonging to traders at their own prices not minding if the trader was at loss? Was that the best way to reverse the economy at that particular time? If the APC had a national ahead, WHY DID THEY LIMIT THE CHOICE OF THE VP SLOT TO THE WEST? ARE THERE NO POSSIBLE CANDIDATES IN OTHER GEOPOLITICAL ZONES?
ReplyDeleteI COULD GO ON AND ON! MBAKA YOU HAVE JUST OFFENDED MAN AND GOD TOO! I HOPE YOU HAVE NOT DRIVEN ON AND OF THOSE ROADS BUILT OR REFURBISHED BY THE GEJ GOVERNMENT, I HOPE AND OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS OR YOUR CONGREGATION NEVER USE THE RAILWAY SYSTEM REVIVED BY GEJ GOVERNMENT, I HOPE YOU NEVER BENEFIT FROM AND OF THOSE GOOD PROJECTS INITIATED BY GEJ GOVERNMENT, BECAUSE IF YOU DO, THUNDER WILL FIRE YOU AND YOUR GENERATIONS TO COME!
The truth must be told it does not matter who said it. The problem we have in Nigeria is that we lack courage to confront the fact. Mbaka I know has always stand for the people and for the truth. It is on record that he fought against bad policies of former Governor Chimaroke , he has severally criticized both Catholic church and the bishops when they derail. The fact remains that this administration has not done well as regards to insecurity, unemployment, poverty and war against corruption which the president has variously acknowledged directly or indirectly in his speeches. Also developmental indices released by world bodies have indicated that Nigeria has nosedived in these areas over the past few years. These are serious developmental issues and indeed the essence of government so any administration which failed to perform in these aspects should be thrown out . I am not a politician but I will leave you with this quote by David Cameron UK prime minister " I like my party but I love and care about my country". This is the kind of leaders we should vote for. Dont vote because of religion, qualifications, ethicity, physical appearance of a person or any other primordial reasons if you love Nigeria and want your children born or unborn not to continue to look for greener pasture in other good countries.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your contribution. It shows that some Nigerians are reasonable in their views. The Rev Father did not say anything new. He only confirmed the obvious. We already know but we cannot do anything about it.
DeleteWe must act on election day - that is our only opportunity.
Mbaka has become a politician lately. He endorses and campaigns for you today and tomorrow he abandons you. Check the list. Rochas, Ohakim, Jonathan, Buhari
ReplyDeleteRev please judge not. Face ur church (ministry)
ReplyDeletehis not man of God again he hve joined politics bcz of money
ReplyDeleteReverend Father Mbaka. I wonder whether you watched this video clip you dramatised. The whole world knows you are not saying the truth. This is not expected from a man who is reverend as a father. I expected you to intercede with your prayers for a good leader for Nigeria and not to be partisan in politics. What don't you leave politics for politician. You seems to have limited the power of God who can change things. You cannot change anything except God. Therefore pray and call on him for a change.
ReplyDeleteThe Bible was very clear about people like you 'that at the end time like this, different prophet and preachers will claim God says when they are actually speaking their own mind'. Only God knows who good between Buhari and Jonathan and not you, irrespective of who you are or your standing in the society or of a fraction of a religion circle.
Are you sure you watched the video clip? Can you identify anything he said that Nigerians do not already know?
DeleteDo not be fooled by GEJ and his team. Now that oil price is dropping, our leaders have started approaching World Bank to borrow money. Is that not a shame?
Everyone here saying how they'll still vote for GEJ are only talking because you are still here to witness 2015. if your lives or the lives of pple u love were lost in all the bomb blasts and kidnapping Nigeria experienced in 2014 you'll sit quietly and realize we need change. yea!!! things would not change in the blink of an eye (say6years), but they're supposed to gradually get better and not worse. sit down and pray the God directs you on who to vote for instead of criticizing a man of God! by the way he is a christian asking Christians to vote for a Muslim. so what do u all want?
ReplyDeleteC MUMU no talk of relig. talk on national issues like corruption, terrorism etc
ReplyDeleteAm happy that Nigeria men of God have now decided to take the bull by the horn instead of them deceive the member that miracles are on the way is better to tell them that their destiny is in their own hands, student in the class says they have poor intelligent teacher, a fool from outside says they will pass their exams. A man of God either you believe him or not he is still a Nigerian raised some good point which is open even for the blind to see some of you backward people saying rubbish, if you like vote for GEJ that's your problem.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you Father, am so shock that we can still see some fools in Nigeria so blinded to the truth, apart from those benefiting directly from Jonathan l don't expect any rightful thinking Nigerians to cast a single vote for GEJ. Please on what ground must a single vote being giving GEJ? We all voted him IN in 2011 so nobody should patronize me with this religion or SS things
ReplyDeleteOh! Change has really come, l think Nigeria will change if all this men of God can boldly come out and say the truth to their member rather than promising them that miracles is coming then we will have a future not a mirage.
ReplyDeleteFather Mbaka did not say anything we do not already know. Who do not know that GEJ cannot tackle corruption? Who do not know that there are increased destitute in Nigeria now? Who do not know that we have bigger electricity problem all over Nigeria? Who do not know that oil price has dropped and Nigeria is suffering for lack of other means of making money? Who do not know that our youths are suffering unemployment - example is the recent Stadium stampede for jobs?
ReplyDeleteNigerians should take Father Mbaka seriously because he is only confirming that he is aware of the pain and suffering of the people. We already know the issues he raised but we cannot do anything about it.
Is it good luck that our President is not performing? Is it good luck that the EFCC is no more alive?
Say the truth.
I will vote Buhari and I am Igbo and catholic. Fr. Mbaka just confirmed what most Nigerians know. Most of the people from the East making noise are doing so because their immediate family has not been directly affected by the killings in the North. I have lost relatives to this Boko Haram insurgents. It's easy to blame the north but the truth is that we have a government that is not doing anything to stop it. As recent as today, a whole military post has been overrun by Boko Haram and yet we have spent over $5 billion for security and I keep hearing Nigerian army does not have the weapon to fight Boko Haram. Do you want to wait until Boko Haram invades the East? Government pays a few people like Ifanyi Uba billions to import petroleum products and they collect money and do nothing. As long as they donate money to GEJ and help him win elections, nobody cares. State government can hardly pay the minimum 18,000 wage but how much does it cost to send somebody to University? The opposition is proposing accountability and opportunity for government to back loans to anybody that wants to go to school and people are here talking nonsense. We see somebody who wants to fight corruption but we prefer the status quo and we'll be the first to complain.
ReplyDeleteMy people: Please open your mind. Buhari did not start Boko Haram. The former Borno governor, who is a known sponsor of Boka Haram is hanging with your president. Stand for truth and change. Don't be blinded by ignorance of tribalism. Johnathan has had 6yrs and this country is not moving forward. Stand for accountability. Don't get used by the politicians over and over again. Peter Obi said APGA was Igbo party and the rest were either Yoruba and Hausa Party. After he got what he wanted, the same father of Ndi Igbo quit APGA. I pray that the Lord Jesus would open your mind so you can all look beyond ethnicity and religion. Buhari's driver of over 20yrs is a Christian and he has not made him change his religion but somebody is feeding you that he will make Islam our official religion and you believe that. He did not do that when he had maximum power as a head of State but now you're told he will do that under democratic government. Those who stole and buried this country are afraid of what will happen to them and they recruit with all kinds of lies against Buhari. Give change a chance so that these corrupt politicians will not destroy this country. I hope this is enough for you to start thinking. Ever wonder why Obama visits other African country and skip Nigeria? it's a sign of disgust they feel towards our leadership. They send their children to schools overseas. They go for checkup overseas. You are stuck here and you are not even helping yourself. Biko, nyere onwe gi aka (help yourself).
Ukpaka
