Ebola kills 5th doctor in Sierra Leone

A doctor infected with Ebola in Sierra Leone has died.

Dr. Godfrey George tested positive on Sunday and died Monday overnight.

He is the fifth local doctor in the country to be killed by the disease.

Doctors and nurses have been particularly vulnerable, as the virus is spread through body fluids.

Some 523 health workers have contracted Ebola, and about half of them have died.

On Monday, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told a press conference in Vienna there shouldn’t be unnecessary extra restrictions on the movement of health workers. The comment came as some US states imposed quarantines on health professionals returning from the three West African countries hardest hit by Ebola.
