I will defend whatever I have done before God – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has promised that his administration will continue to do what is right towards the up-liftment of Nigerians

He also promised that he will never do anything that will make him not to be able to face God.

He made the remarks while speaking at the Winners Chapel in Goshen City, Nassarawa State, where he observed the Sunday church service.

Stressing that many developed nations have passed through worst situations than Nigeria, he was optimistic that Nigeria will overcome its challenges through prayers of Nigerians.

According to him, Nigeria will triumph just like the Super Eagles came back from three goals down on Saturday, with almost all hope lost, to beat their Moroccan counterpart by 4 -3 to qualify for semi-final in the championship.

He said: “I am not here to make a formal speech as we have learnt to talk very very little. Just like the bishop said in his sermon, your prayers have been helpful. I request that you continue to pray for this country. Bishop thank you for your message , it has been very instructive.”

“The promise land has never been an easy one for any nation, it was not easy for the Israelites and I promise that myself and my colleagues will continue to do what is right for this country. The bishop said it all as mere mortals there may be errors but our commitment to do what is right is total. We will do our best but like I always say what ever I do I should be able to tell God why I did it.”

“As I listened to your message certain things are being reflected. I assure you this country will cross the bridge, yes we have challenge as a nation, even the most developed nations pass through stages sometimes even more challenging than we face today.”

On the Nigeria/Morocco match, he said: “But what happened yesterday in South Africa will be the story of this nation. Those of you who watched that match will know that it was not easy at the beginning, it was as if Nigeria was to be demolished but all of a sudden the young men came very strong and we won. That is how it will be with the story of this country with your prayers and commitment we will get to the destination.”

“All what we require is your prayers and Nigeria will get to its destination. I wish you a prosperous 2014.” He stated

Delivering the sermon earlier, Bishop David Abioye noted that it is the prayer of Nigerians that brings about peace and guidance in the country.

He said: “Our leaders are human, they are not angels, it is prayer that makes them to abide to the will of God. As we keep praying, God keeps guiding our leaders. When we pray, they gravitate towards what is good. That’s why the church must keep praying. They are guided by our prayers. They are the targets of the enemy.”

“When a leader makes a wrong decision, the whole people will be affected. Our leaders will not make wrong decisions.”

He commended the President for signing the Same-Sex Prohibition bill into law.

So if we have another president now, he too will come out and say corruption did not start from his regime that it reared its head 54yrs ago so when is the cycle going to stop?

  10. Sir, With due respect to your status and office,I wish to state that perfection is an attribute of GOD.Consequently,it will be difficult or almost impossible to defend all (i.e. on 100% basis) that you did before HIM.As the Bishop rightly said,we are human beings not angels. This makes us fallible and desirous of GOD's guidance in all our endeavours or affairs.I wish you GOD's GUIDANCE?

  13. Those who have made the above positive comments about our President will surely be blessed by our God . Then I wish to remind you not to panic about our dirty Politians who are jumping from one party to the other as a result of their corrupt minds and non-performance .Those of them who have really served their people still remain where they are .

  14. We will continue to pray for you.
BUT There are practical steps you can make TODAY the will show your resolve to STOP corruption.
We act like it is impossible to setup Power Supply
Like it is impossible to make all cash flow transparent with use of technology
Like it is impossible to fix Police
Like its impossible to JAIL corrupt leaders and politicians (worse than highway robbers)

I personally think the Presidential system of Government is not suited for a diverse country like Nigeria. We need to have like 6-8 Zones and have the main political activity happen within the zones. The Prime minister or President's power should be reduced to more like a Super Ambassador. This will make the country more united. Citizens can attack their leaders more on a local level and elect them out if they don't perform. We need to seriously consider a change in system of government.
