Boko Haram threatens to bomb University of Maiduguri

Fear has gripped the residents of Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital, as the dreaded Boko Haram Islamic Sect has again threatened to attack selected areas of the city.

It was gathered that the Boko Haram Sect singled out the University of Maiduguri as the next target of its planned attacks on the city.



Apart from the University, the members of the Sect have also warned residents of Maiduguri to be prepared for another round of assaults for allegedly collaborating with security agencies in the fight against terrorism.

A security source hinted that the Boko Haram insurgents also warned residents to stay away from Federal Roads such as the busy Maiduguri-Damaturu-Bauchi Road and the Maiduguri, Damboa-Biu-Gombe Road.

The security source who confided in our correspondent on the rampaging insurgents warned that they would commence frequent attacks on the highways.

It was said that the insurgents killed some travelers along the Maiduguri Biu Road with the intent to make good their threat.

The Boko Haram threat is coming at a time when increased vehicular flow is expected on the strategic highways which connects the Maiduguri metropolis to other states in the North East and the North Central.

The source said, “For now the city looks calm but there is so much tension. We just thank God that another attack has not taken place after the one that took place last month.

“But Maiduguri is tense now because Boko Haram threatening to attack selected places in the city.

“They wrote saying that they would attack the University of Maiduguri; they also warned people to stay away from Federal highways such as the Borno-Yobe highway and the Maiduguri-Biu highway. Both you know, are major highways.

“Already, they have launched an attack on motorists slaughtering several of them along the Maiduguri-Biu Road. I don’t have the exact number of those killed in the attack.

  1. They know they have strong backing both in and out. What is happening to security system in Nigeria, nobody knows. This has exposed the weakness of the Nigerian security system.
