Bauchi State set to pass law on compulsory HIV test before marriage



The Bauchi State House of Assembly is set to pass a law for compulsory Humane Immune Virus, HIV, test before marriage in the state.


Mr. Iliyasu Zwall of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, representing Lere/Bula State Constituency in the House, sponsored the bill, yesterday, which seeks for a law to compel intending couple to undergo compulsory HIV test before marriage to reduce the scourge of the virus in the society.

The bill has passed through first and second reading and has been referred to the House Committee on Health for further consideration.

Similarly, a bill for the merger of School of Agriculture and Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic has been referred to the House Committee on Education after it passed through first and second reading, Monday.
