Secondary School Student drowns in swimming pool

A senior secondary pupil of Dutse Model International Secondary School drowned in a swimming pool in Dutse.

He drowned on Sunday, while swimming in government-owned three star hotels in Dutse.

The News Agency of Nigeria learnt that the deceased was a son of a top government functionary in the state.


An employee of the hotel, who pleaded for anonymity, told the NAN on Monday that the deceased often came to the hotel to swim before the unfortunate incident.

The staff said the deceased came with nine other pupils of the school.
A NAN investigation revealed that the boy and his school mates sneaked out of the college on the day of the incident.

The Principal of the school, Mrs. Zainab Usman, confirmed the death of one of her pupils in a swimming pool.

However, the spokesman for the state police command, Mr. Abdul Jinjiri, said the police had not received such a report.
