The newly elected governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada, and his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, were on Friday sworn in by the Chief Judge of Kogi Stae, Justice Nasir Ajannah, in the stae capital, Lokoja.
They were sworn in on the basis of the sacking of the sitting governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, by the Supreme Court.
Idris and four other governors – Liyel Imoke (Cross River); Aliyu Wammako (Sokoto); Timipre Sylva (Bayelsa); and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) were sacked by the Supreme Court after it declared their elongated tenure illegal and alien to the Constitution of Nigeria, 1999 (As Amended).
Wada and Awoniyi were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party on December 3, 2011.
Wada has 35 years of service in the aviation industry while his deputy is an architect and son of a former founding member of the PDP, the late Chief Sunday Awoniyi.

ReplyDeletewhy are kogi east power hunger like this? if they think power will never shift, then what will happen in kogi state in nearest future will be more devastating than boko haram.gone are the days when they uses state purse to infiltrate insecurity, disharmony in the west and central district of the state to clinch to number one sit. he who hate equality will not see peace. it is obvious that the relative peace of this country today was as a result of power rotation of PDP in 1999. this is not a treath, but truth and reality.
